Alright, the name of the game is Crusader Kings II, and it has sort of invaded my life.  The premise of the game is to control a dynasty throughout the late dark-middle ages.  Along the way you play as the current ruler and then as his/her heir.  Here's a brief description of how this weekend's time was spent.

-------------
I started out a fairly poor Nordsman in Norway.  This fellow was old, something like 70 years old when the game began.  I was surrounded mostly by weak provinces, but to the south there was a man who controlled about 5 counties (I controlled 2).  So, being a true viking, I decided to raise up my armies and go raid various Irish cities.  However, the old guy was too frail and died en route.  This meant his son, Hakon, took power.

Hakon raided bits of Ireland and returned with a crap-ton of cash, which he then spent on an army of mercenaries to march south with.  Just as the coffers were running empty I managed to siege the capital and take control of the guy's land.  This made me the new Petty King of Ostlandet, Hakon I.  However, the dude's son, named Stryker, wasn't very happy about that and rebelled, and took my new marshal, a guy named Dag, who happened to also hold a county, with him.  I managed to scrounge up enough cash to crush the rebellion and put them both in jail... they seemed satisfied with their defeat so I released them being merciful, only to have them raise their banners again.  This time I imprisoned both of them, and all of Stryker's family, I released Dag, but I held a Blot (a massive ritual to Odin) and sacrificed Stryker, and his whole family to the All-Father.

Shortly there after Hakon I was in Venice pillaging when someone managed to maim him during the raid.  He died a few months afterward.  So then his son, Hawke the Great, took power, made the kingdom of Norway, unified most of the local holdings, including Iceland.  Aside from nearly wiping Venice out of existence for killing his father, Mr. Hawke the Great also fought of the children of King Ivar the Boneless, a Norse raider who had taken over Scotland.  Also Hawke the Great was married to some Middle East pagan, and their son Hakon "the Just" II, is who I'm playing as now, and he's a Norse Arab.

Pretty freakin' sweet, and that's not even the end of it, nor even my best story.  The game's also got multiplayer... eh?  EH?

Also you can play just about anywhere in Europe or the Middle East... Pagans and Muslims are DLC, but all Christian rulers (Catholic and Orthodox are open). Just has a pretty steep learning curve.

This week you can get it for like 6 bucks, including 7 other games at: https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly

And a portion of your proceeds will go to charity.

Also I have a spare code for the game with me, if anyone wants to try it out.

The Dread Pirate Roberts, I presume?
